A large anatomical écorché male figure in plaster. France, circa 1900. Rare due to its large size at nearly 5′ tall. An excellent casting once used in a French art school. The term écorché literally means “flayed.” These sculptures depict the muscles and anatomy of the body and were traditionally used in training artists in figure drawing.
