A very good pair of early 19th-century Directoire garden chimeras in the likeness of the 18th-century court mistress, Madame de Pompadour, perched on a pair of RT Facts faux-porphyry-painted wood pedestals. Madame de Pompadour is depicted here on the robed body of a chimeras. Sculpted in beautiful French terra cotta and perched on freestanding painted wood bases. These chimeras are an interpretation of those placed in the garden of the Castle of Ménars. Both in great antique condition. The chimeras and pedestals can be purchased separately for $9,500 (pair) and $7,500 (pair) respectively. The bases in the last photograph are no longer available. An RT Facts Find.
