A 19th century cast iron garden bench after a design by the influential Prussian architect and designer Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The elongated three-seat form features a pierced back composed of three panels with classical lyres, winged figures, and scrolling foliate decoration. The curved arms terminate in ram’s heads, with X-form supports ending in cast hoof feet and a long slatted iron seat. Finished in old white paint, now weathered with areas of oxidation and surface loss throughout. In good antique condition consistent with age and outdoor use, including paint loss, oxidation, and surface rust. An RT Facts find.
