An impressive 19th-century bronze sculpture of Mercury on a cylindrical green marble plinth. After the bronze Mercury by Giambologna (Italy, c. 1580). The sculpture depicts the ancient Roman messenger god, Mercury, standing atop the face of Zephyrus, the god of wind, who is shown blowing air into Mercury’s winged foot. Old, weathered surface with rich verdigris. Several repairs and losses with a large crack running horizontally along the marble plinth. Overall stable condition. An RT Facts Find.
