A 19th century Italian carved white marble throne chair in the Neoclassical and Renaissance Revival taste. The curved back is richly carved with scrolling foliage, floral ornament and cartouches. The arms and handholds are formed as female figures terminating in lion’s-paw feet, their upper bodies dramatically engulfed by stylized classical dolphins. The shaped seat is edged with carved molding above a deeply worked foliate apron. An RT Facts find.
