A 19th century bronze fountain figure after Andrea del Verrocchio’s celebrated Renaissance Putto with Dolphin. The winged putto balances on one foot on a 9" octagonal base while holding a dolphin against his body, the dolphin’s mouth serving as the water spout. The bronze retains a richly weathered dark patina with areas of verdigris and surface wear throughout.
The composition derives from Verrocchio’s original bronze created for the Medici and later installed at the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. In good antique condition consistent with age and outdoor use.
