An 18th century walnut wall font with a strong architectural profile. The projecting cornice is centered by a carved scroll, above a deep basin with repeating lobed panels and restrained foliate detail. The interior shows remnants of an earlier painted surface, now worn to a soft patina that contrasts with the rich tone of the walnut. Confident carving throughout, likely provincial. There is some bug damage on the sides, and evidence of repairs on the bottom; this piece is still brimming with character. An RT Facts find.
