A large pair of 19th Century framed folio etchings from The Description de l’Égypte, a document of the discoveries of Napoleon’s army in Egypt during their occupation (1798–1801). More information regarding the The Description de l’Égypte can be found here. They are marked as follows: Edfu, Egypt, Plate 61, A Vol I by Sellier (left) and Dandarah, Egypt, Plate 29, A Vol IV by Leisnier (right). The prints are framed in simple, gold painted frames with silk mattes.

Plate 61 is titled: VUE PERSPECTIVE DU PYLÔNE BE DE LA COUR DU GRAND TEMPLE which translates to "Perspective View of Pylon and the Court of the Grande Temple"

Plate 29 is titled: VUE PERSPECTIVE DE LA FACADE DE PORTIQUE DE GRAND TEMPLE which translates to "Perspective View of The Grand Temple Portico Facade"

The paper has yellowed with age, there is subtle foxing throughout, and there are light creases in the corners. Plate 29 has two tears, one in the left corner and one in the by the title. See the last two photos. Please note these are etchings, not prints, and can be identified as such by the embossed edges left on the paper from the etched plates. Look closely at the incredible details of the etchings. Wired for hanging. Priced and sold as a pair. An RT Facts find.
