A pair of impressive shelving units from Oxford, England. Base reads: Perfect Adjusting Shelving, Lamberts Patent, Manuf by W Lucy & Co Engineers & Founders, Oxford. W. Lucy & Co was founded in 1812 and initially specialized in ornamental ironworks for railings and balconies. In the late 1800’s, they became the main supplier of book shelves for universities, libraries, and museums. This set of shelves from this period features ornately decorative metal framework supporting thick glass shelving.
