Nessen studios was established in NYC in 1927 by Walter von Nessen, an industrial design trailblazer influenced by the Deco aesthetic of the period.  Successfully combining functionalism with new materials and concepts, he became one of the most recognized and admired designers of the period in contemporary lighting.  “Unquestionably, it was von Nessen’s concepts that led to the modern tradition in lamp design”…3T Lighting Inc.  After his death in 1943, Nessen Studios continued to be a design leader and in the 1960’s they produced a series of lamps designed by Elizabeth Kauffer featuring bases of the finest Italian marble.  Kauffer went on to work for the Herman Miller Furniture Co.

This pair of Nessen Studios lamps features a rectangular marble base of deep smokey grey Italian marble with white veining.  Newly wired with bronze harps featuring adjustable risers.  Shown with 16” white linen drum shades sold separately for $100 each.

Each:  Total height via adjustable riser: 31.5″H – 36″H.  Base alone is 16″H x 4 5/8 square.
