Antique Chip Carved, Ebonized Oak Warwick, Turner, or Brewster Chair c1900, England Style of John Starkey

Price $1,800.00

English Oak Warwick/Turner/Brewster Chair, Early 20th Century, the rectangular back with geometric carving, joined by ribbed arms and a turned back standard to the triangular wooden seat, raised on incised circular legs joined by stretchers.  We thought this chair needed a cushion – so we made one! In a dark yet vibrant lime green in alligator pattern. Made from solid oak with geometric chip carved details and turned legs, in the style of John Starkey.  Known as ‘Warwick’ or ‘Turners’ chairs, the design is after an original piece at Lord Leycester’s Hospital, Warwick (probably dating from 17th century), with a popularity for reproductions in Victorian England due to the interest in Tudor and Elizabethan styles at the time.
