A carved African origin wood and polychrome painted mask. Having an oval shape, bordered in carved circles that are multi color painted. Small centered mouth, with round open eyes appearing below a possible second face with closed eyes and a cross carved into the red/orange pigment painted forehead. From a local collection, originally acquired from American Primitive, NYC – includes custom made and fitted iron stand that beautifully showcases the features of this mask.
