19th Century carved Italian limestone opposing architectural winged lion or griffin sculptures. These sculptures are based off an ancient carved chair, drawings of which can be seen in the gallery at the Candelabra in the Vatican museum. Drawing is by Charles Heathcote Tatham, circa 1795.  Would be wonderful flanking an entrance to house or garden or on either side of a fireplace. Country of origin, Italy.
